Brimscombe Hill is currently closed following a serious house fire that occurred overnight.
Emergency services remain at the scene, and residents are asked to avoid the area unless directly involved, to allow crews to continue their work safely and without obstruction.
In a post on social media, Councillor Chloe Turner said: “As some of you may be aware, there has been a house fire overnight in the Brimscombe Hill area.
“Unless you are directly involved, please avoid the area entirely so that emergency crews can continue their work without obstruction.
“If anyone in the community has information that may assist with the investigation, or requires support as a result of the incident, please contact the police on 101 or speak to officers on site, who will direct you to the appropriate agency.
“The emergency services and councils are working closely together. If you experience any difficulties or have concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know. My thoughts are very much with everyone affected by this tragic incident.”
Police have confirmed that further information will be released in a public statement in due course.
Residents are thanked for their cooperation and understanding during this time.
