Etaluku inks Rovers deal after successful medical

Forest Green have confirmed the signing of Sean Etaluku, who has successfully completed his medical to become the club’s 19th addition of the season.

Renowned for his exceptional pace and attacking flair the 21 year-old will reunite with manager Robbie Savage, having previously worked together at Macclesfield during their promotion-winning campaign.

Etaluku will also rejoin former Macclesfield trio Laurent Mendy, Neil Kengni and Tre Pemberton who made the switch to Nailsworth in the summer.

Etaluku signed for The Silkmen in November 2024 from League Two side, Barrow, and has featured heavily throughout his time with the club.

The rapid winger had been on loan at Matlock Town and his performances caught the eye of then boss Robbie Savage – who Sean teams up with at Rovers once more.

A product of Burnley’s Academy, Etaluku’s speed and quality caused a number of problems for opposition sides in their promotion-winning 2024-25 season.

Speaking after signing his contract, Etaluku expressed his excitement about the move: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here,” he said. “As soon as I spoke with the manager and saw the ambition around the club, I knew this was the right step for me. I can’t wait to get started, meet the fans, and show what I can bring to the team.”

In a statement, Macclesfield FC confirmed: “Over the course of the last few months, Macclesfield FC have received a number of offers for midfielder Sean Etaluku.

“All of these were from higher division teams and politely declined.

“Just over three weeks ago, we received a significant bid from Enterprise National League Club Forest Green Rovers. Given the fact that Sean is currently in the last year of his contract and personally expressed his wish to leave, it was decided that it would be in the best interests of the Football Club to sanction the move.”

Etaluku will be available to to face Luton Town in the televised clash at Kenilworth Road on Friday.
