Family-friendly event returns to Cornhill Market

Inspired during lockdown, a popular town event is returning to Stroud.

The Seatery will take place on Friday from 11am -2pm at Cornhill Market Place, turning the square into a vibrant community gathering space for people to enjoy live music performances, games, toys, and cosy seating areas with cushions.

“We’re so excited to bring The Seatery back this year,” said Laura Beattie, Community Development Officer. “Our hope is that it becomes a great venue for people of all ages to gather for free to play, eat and experience the incredible musical talents we have right here in Stroud.”

The Seatery first began during the pandemic as a place for musicians to practice and share their talents. It quickly grew into a weekly summertime tradition. This year, Stroud Town Council surveyed residents on how they would like to see the space evolve, and the clear message was a desire for more family-friendly fun alongside the free live music.

The musical line up this Friday includes Lyn Briggs performing songs from her album “My Promise,” the folk instrumentals of Fleabane, and the versatile stylings of local musician Malcolm Eva, who will mix English folk, European folk, classical arias, original tunes and 60s pop hits.
