Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince is highlighting a perceived inconsistency in how football authorities handle abusive fan behaviour.
Vince has cited the controversial ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters from Aston Villa as he spoke out against the alleged abuse from Carlisle United fans to Robbie Savage.
Posting on X, Vince said: “With Maccabi Tel Aviv fans being banned from the Villa game, there’s some relevance here – the National League failed badly to deal with abusive language during our game against Carlisle last week.”
Vince implied that while the National League has procedures to address abusive language, they were not effectively enforced in this instance.
“Higher leagues deal with this better, but the National League has a similar process, it just failed to use it.”
