Robbie Savage has confirmed the loan move of Forest Green teenager Jose Marquez to Alvechurch.

The 19-year-old striker will join defender Will Merrett at the Southern League Premier Central side, managed by Savage’s former Blackburn team-mate Tim Flowers.

The academy graduate will remain available for selection for Rovers’ National League Cup campaign on dual registration during his month on loan.

Marquez featured during pre-season and scored in our opening NL Cup fixture against West Brom U21s – a 3-1 victory at The New Lawn.

Marquez had a previous successful two-month loan spell at Hungerford, finishing as joint-top scorer with 10 goals for the club.

Savage said: “Jose Marquez, who’s done great, is going out on loan for a month to Alvechurch with Tim Flowers, who I played with. It’s an opportunity for him to get minutes and goals. Jose, along with Will Merrett, were both exceptional in the National League Cup, so this is a chance for him to build confidence and continue his development.”
