The worst-kept secret will be revealed later today with former Premier League star Robbie Savage duly anointed the new manager of Forest Green.
Savage is set to become Forest Green’s sixth permanent manager in the space of three years with the 50-year-old former Derby County, Birmingham, and Blackburn midfielder reportedly penning a four-year contract after leaving Macclesfield this week. savage guided the Silkmen to promotion to the National League North in his first season at the helm.

His move comes after he was spotted by an eagle-eyed Stroud Times reader in Stroud last week with Rovers’ director of football Mark Bowen – the pair have a close relationship and were Wales teammates and Bowen later assisted Mark Hughes at Savage’s former club Blackburn.
Forest Green parted ways with Steve Cotterill on Thursday after losing out on promotion in the National League play-offs. The eco-friendly club finished third before being dumped out of the play-offs by Southend who finished seventh.
Stroud Times will be in attendance to speak to Robbie Savage and chairman Dale Vince.
