Gastrells Primary School celebrated the artistic talents of children from across the whole school.
Showcasing over 800 artworks, the exhibition championed creations made from a huge variety of medium including ceramics, collage, lino printing, needle felting, water-colour and even glue painting.
This year’s event also showcased the premier of a new strand to the gallery of a UV glow room, where the children created an immersive experience for parents and the community to enjoy.
More than 200 underwater creatures were made, from jellyfish and turtles, to seahorses amongst the coral, the glow aquarium was an absolute highlight to this year’s event.

Exhibition coordinator, Rachel Mahaffy said: “We are so thrilled to have hosted this very special event for its 2nd year for our children, parents and the community to enjoy. We continue to be so proud of all of our young artists and it is wonderful to see such enthusiasm for creativity rippling across the school.”
More than 350 visitors attended the exhibition and a number of children were recognised for their particular achievements across the year, including special congratulations to Robin and Xander who were awarded ‘Artists of the Year’ for KS1 and KS2.
Head teacher Katie Merriman said: “Once again we are thrilled to host this very special event where we can champion the arts and celebrate our students. A diverse and inspiring art program forms an important part of our curriculum at Gastrells, as we note it’s benefits to mental health and freedom of expression for the children, who are all able to access creativity regardless of any individual circumstances. We congratulate all of our children on their creativity this year and thank parents and the community for joining us this week. I would also like to extend my thanks to Rachel for all of the hard work and time she has put into creating this event.”
