The sound of The Pink Panther theme tune drifted across the grass and through the trees at Stratford Park Band Stand on Sunday, followed by an ABBA medley and Bare Necessities, writes Simon Pizzey..
A relaxed, chilled audience of young and old (and in between) enjoyed the sunshine and skilful playing of the Stroud Area Wind Orchestra, conducted by Helen Chong.
The joyful and free institution of Music in the Park funded by Stroud District Council has become the main event of many a Stroudie’s Sunday afternoon.

The events are open to all, and people are encouraged to bring a picnic and a blanket (maybe an umbrella) to enjoy the beautiful 56-acre park. Refreshments are available from Stratford Perk café in Active Lifestyles and the Museum in the Park.
Even the odd squirrel has been seen tapping its foot as the music drifts across the nearby valleys, gardens and in through patio doors.
Long may this valuable tradition continue.
