Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has heaped praise on Robbie Savage for the impressive impact he’s made since taking charge of Forest Green Rovers.
A strong start under Savage has drawn attention from across the football community, with Goodman, the ex-Wolves, West Brom and Sunderland striker, among those commending the former Wales international’s leadership and tactical approach at Forest Green.
Reflecting on Forest Green’s unbeaten run, Goodman told talkSPORT Bet : “I don’t think we should ever be surprised by anything Robbie Savage does.

“It’s hard not to be impressed by the job he’s done at Forest Green Rovers so far. Before the weekend, they were unbeaten in 13 league games — eight wins, five draws — and sitting top of the table. How can anyone not be impressed with that?
“I don’t think Robbie would have taken the job unless he believed he could make a real success of it at Forest Green. Yes, they’ve had a slight blip with back-to-back draws against York and Boston United before the defeat to Rochdale, but that’s all it is — a small bump in the road.”
Backed by maverick chairman Dale Vince, Savage has revamped a team that finished third in the National League last season and Goodman isn’t surprised how Savage has done since his summer move from Macclesfield: “It looks like he’s got the tools at his disposal to be competing right at the very top, which is exactly where Forest Green Rovers would expect to be, having only recently dropped out of the EFL. It’s hard not to be impressed with what he’s achieved so far.”
Rovers travel to Worthing in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round on Monday night.
