Stroud Show is set to return in 2026 for what organisers hope will be one of the biggest and best celebrations in its 167-year history.
This year’s Show will be formally opened at 11.30am on July 18th by MP Simon Opher, the Town Mayor Tony Davey and ITV news presenter Seb Choudhury. Visitors will also be treated to performances from headline act Craig Petty, the internationally acclaimed magician and illusionist, whose appearance is sponsored by Stonehouse Flooring.
With the theme of Heritage, this year’s Show will showcase the traditions, skills and history that make Stroud such a special community. The Cotswold Players will appear in period costume, bringing to life the famous “Stroudies” after whom several local roads are named, while visitors can also enjoy a display of vintage vehicles and take part in a “How Well Do You Know Stroud?” quiz.
Alongside the heritage attractions, all the much-loved Show favourites will return. These include the unique brick-throwing competition against Stroud, Australia, rolling-pin throwing, welly-whanging for under-16s, archery activities, and a wide range of horticultural competitions, including new fruit and vegetable classes.
The popular Dog Show returns courtesy of Teckels, while the Girl Guides will once again host their traditional tea tent. Visitors can also enjoy fairground attractions, a variety of food and drink vendors, and dozens of stalls from local organisations, businesses and community groups.
Chair of the Stroud Show Committee, Wendy Fabbro, said: “The Show has been bringing our community together for 167 years and continues to be a day that people look forward to every summer. Whether it’s the competitions, the entertainment, the heritage displays or simply spending time with friends and family, there really is something for everyone. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, volunteers and supporters who make the event possible.”
The 2026 Show is particularly significant as it marks the final year of service for the current Chair, who has led the event for the past ten years.
“One of the greatest pleasures has been hearing people’s memories of the Show and seeing new generations create memories of their own. Children still leave saying it’s ‘the best day ever’, and that’s what makes all the hard work worthwhile. We hope everyone will come along and help make 2026 our best Show yet.”
Entry remains just £1 for adults, with free admission for children and young people under 18.
