The Old Fleece at Rooksmoor near Stroud is undergoing a raft of exciting changes.
The popular pub boasts a rich history and was first licensed as an inn in 1870 and has been owned by Nick Beardsley and Christophe Coquoin since 1993.
Mr Beardsley told Stroud Times: “We’re in our 32nd year at the Old Fleece and in the middle of a development that has already delivered new state of the art toilets, including waterless urinals. A brand new electric kitchen and the first underground beer cellar built this century in the UK goes live.”
Nick’s son Ollie, afforded Stroud Times a guided tour around the historic pub, which now features a new underground beer cellar and plans for an expanded dining area.

A bar extension is underway, which Mr Beardsley hopes will add another dimension for customers to enjoy, he added: “The main client focus will be the extension to the bar currently being built which will provide café style restaurant and lounge areas for a brand new breakfast and brunch offering due to open late summer 2025.”

With the hospitality industry facing challenging times, Mr Beardsley insists the Old Fleece is going from strength-to-strength: “Myself and Christophe continue to innovate and invest in our beloved bar in the Woodchester Valley and with Ollie at the helm of the Old Lodge, Minchinhampton, we are looking forward to the next 30 years serving the community of the Stroud Valleys.”
