Mask-wearing thieves target elderly man’s home

MOST READ

Police are appealing for information after two mask-wearing men broke into an elderly man’s home in Paganhill, earlier this week.

At around 2.30pm on Wednesday, August 24th, the males were seen trying to gain entry to the home through the front door, and then made their way around the side of the house.

They smashed a rear window and entered the property, which is off Paganhill Road, while the elderly occupant was asleep inside. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

A caller who reported the incident to police said that the two young men had also been seen at other neighbouring properties. At this stage no other damage has been reported.

The pair were described as being white, aged in their early 20s and of a slim build. They were wearing grey hooded tops, black caps, black trainers and blue surgical facemasks. One of the males had an ‘Ellesse’ logo on his hooded top.

Officers attended and searched the area, however the offenders fled on foot. One went in the direction of Downfield and the Cainscross area, and the other in the direction of Byron Road.

Enquiries are ongoing and investigating officers are asking for anyone who saw the two men or anyone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.

Police are also keen to hear from anyone who saw a silver Audi A3 in the area between 2pm and 3pm that day.

Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to provide this to police online by completing the following form and quoting incident 246 of 24 August: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/ You can also call police on 101.
