I’m Arthur Miles, I’m 15 years old, and I was born in Stroud, where I’ve lived my entire life.
Although I’ve never lived anywhere outside Stroud, I’ve moved house six times and experienced living in three different parts of the town. That’s given me a unique perspective on Stroud and has helped me develop a real passion for the place I call home.
Around four years ago, I started making videos, originally focusing on travel around the UK. Since then, my content has evolved, I’ve moved between platforms and I’ve built a following of more than 23,000 people.
More recently, I’ve become increasingly interested in Stroud itself and in being involved in the community around me.
So far, that has included interviewing our local MP, Dr Simon Opher, undertaking work experience at Stroud Town Council and, now, joining the Stroud Times team to write a monthly youth voice column.
I’m looking forward to using this column to share my perspective on Stroud, the issues that matter to young people and what it’s like growing up in our town today.
Hopefully, I can offer a slightly different perspective — because Stroud isn’t just somewhere I live. It’s the place I’ve grown up, explored and come to know incredibly well.
This is my next step in representing young people in Stroud, and I hope to use this opportunity to give our thoughts and opinions a platform”
I’m very excited to work with the Stroud Times and share my perspective on politics, history and local issues.
Arthur’s column is coming soon.
