A family is urgently appealing for help to find a temporary home for their three much-loved pet cows after being asked to remove them from a community-owned field at the Heavens.
Preston, Hubba and Star – all seven-year-old males – were rescued from farms six years ago, saving them from being sent to slaughter.
They have lived peacefully on the community land for the past year, where they have been well cared for and have become very tame, friendly, and well known to those who visit the field.

The landowners now need the field resting and intend to bring in their own cattle, meaning the steers must be moved as soon as possible.
Their guardians are seeking short-term grazing land or access to a barn until Spring, ideally with water and some form of shelter. The arrangement could be temporary while a longer-term solution is found.

“They are gentle, calm, and deeply loved,” said Kim Baker. “We rescued them as youngsters and promised them safety for life. We are doing everything we can to honour that promise, but we urgently need help from someone with suitable land.”
The long-term hope is to purchase a smallholding, where the steers can live out their lives while supporting future plans for animal rescue, rewilding, and more sustainable living. However, an immediate solution is now critical.

Anyone with suitable pasture, a barn, or land who may be able to help -even temporarily – is urged to get in touch with Eley on 07886 237619 or email: eleyfurrell@hotmail.com
