Here is a round-up of the latest news from police incidents across Gloucestershire as of Tuesday, December 31.

Police investigating a burglary in Fairford earlier this month are appealing for information to help locate a ring which was stolen during the incident.

Two safes containing cash, jewellery, a Rolex watch and documents were taken during the break-in, which is believed to have happened sometime between 1.30pm and 5.20pm on Sunday 8 December.

Offenders smashed a patio door to gain entrance to the property before searching through cupboards and drawers and causing damage to some furniture.

A unique, three-stone emerald and diamond ring, which has the word ‘Jessie’ stamped on the inside of the gold band, was among the jewellery taken.

CCTV and house to house enquiries have been carried out in the area and officers are now urging any witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area that week or who has CCTV or dashcam footage which they believe is relevant is asked to make contact. Officers would also like to hear from anyone who is offered the ring for sale.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of wildlife offences in the Forest of Dean after being found by police close to the body of a dead boar.

Officers on patrol near Yorkley had spotted a 4×4 Jeep parked on a forest track at around 2am this morning, Tuesday 31 December.

The car was unoccupied but there were two dogs and equipment associated with wildlife crime inside.

After a search of the area, two men were found close to the body of a boar.

Officers arrested a 33-year-old man from West Yorkshire and a 52-year-old man from Kent on suspicion of wildlife offences, possession of a bladed article and possession of a Class B drug.

They remain in police custody at this time while enquiries continue. The vehicle, dogs and equipment were all seized by officers.

Sergeant Sam Swinford, from the Rural Crime Team, said: “Wildlife crime has a huge impact on our rural communities, which our officers take very seriously.

“We hope that this robust action sends a clear message that we will not tolerate anyone visiting the Forest of Dean to commit these offences.”
