Police issue dispersal order at Gloucester Quays following rise in anti-social behaviour

Police have put a dispersal order in place for Gloucester Quays and Peel Retail Park following increased reports of Anti-Social Behaviour in the area.

The Section 35 order, which began at 8am yesterday morning (Wednesday 10 December) will run until 8am tomorrow morning (Friday 12 December).

It follows an increase in incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour by a group of youths in the Quays area.

Under the order, officers can direct anyone whose behaviour is likely to result in members of the public being harassed, alarmed or distressed, to leave the area and not return until the order expires.

Anyone who has been directed to leave the designated area by an officer and who returns within that time-frame, can be arrested.

Sergeant Liz Lovell from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Everybody has the right to live in and visit our city without fear.

“It is not acceptable that local residents and retail staff to have to deal with Anti-Social Behaviour of any kind.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and anyone who contravenes this order will be asked to leave.”
