Free-scoring Forest Green Rovers striker Jose Marquez is turning heads during his loan spell with Southern League side Alvechurch.
The 19-year-old joined Tim Flowers’ high-flying team last month on an initial one-month loan and has already found the net three times. His sharp form is now drawing interest from clubs at a higher level.
Frampton-based Marquez signed his first professional contract with Rovers in February after progressing through Yan Klukowski’s academy setup. He also grabbed a goal for Robbie Savage’s side in last month’s 3–1 National League Cup win over West Brom U21s.
Savage praised the teenager’s progress, saying: “He’s scoring goals and his performances are speaking for themselves. I’m led to believe there’s fresh interest in Jose from higher up. A team in the National League South want to take him, so we’ll discuss that. The most important thing is what Jose wants to do and how he develops, because young players need to play.”
