Rare and previously unseen photographs of music star David Bowie are on show in Nailsworth.
The evocative pictures were taken by the late musician’s friend, Geoff MacCormack in the mid-1970s whilst on tour. The exhibition at the Form Gallery in Market Street runs until January 6th and has attracted visitors from across the country.
“It’s been manic,” said gallery owner Louis Nicholas. “We’ve had visitors from Land’s End, Newcastle, Yorkshire – I even heard from someone in Portugal who had seen a link to the exhibition – it’s been very busy.”
Most of the pictures were taken in 1975, post-Ziggy Stardust, around the time Bowie was filming The Man Who Fell to Earth, directed by Nicolas Roeg.
The striking pictures have evoked strong emotions: “One lady started looking at the exhibition and cried, she was overwhelmed by it. I think seeing these images in a small space can be overwhelming,” added Mr Nicholas.
The gallery is open Thursday to Saturday, 11am-4pm. For more details visit: David Bowie. The Geoff MacCormack Collection — _form. gallery (formgallery.co.uk)
