Evergreen Stroud president Dave Moore bagged his 500th wicket for the club, helping the 4ths to a 75-run home win over Chalford 2nds in Division Nine E.
Moore, 76, is in his 60th season with the club and is also the leading scorer in Stroud’s 175-year history with more than 17,000 runs under his belt from the small matter of over 950 games!
Elsewhere, South Cerney’s Garrick Chivers finished with memorable figures of 8-8 from 7.3 overs – the best bowling spell so far this season in the Gloucestershire League – as Tetbury 3rds were skittled for 30 and condemned to a 169-run defeat in Division Eight C.
Incredibly, all his victims were bowled as the all-rounder found a devastating line and length to close out his side’s fourth victory of the campaign.
Chivers had earlier hit 40, helping Tom Fullalove (60) propel their side to a total of 199.
It was a good day too for Kuwait Theivendran who bagged 6-15 from six overs for Cinderford St John 2nds who edged Alvington & Wollaston 2nds by 55 runs in Division Nine A.
And in Division Seven B, skipper Laurence Mezo’s spell of 6-35 closed out a 74-run home win for Stinchcombe Stragglers at home to Oaksey after opener James Bearman had earlier top scored with an unbeaten 119 from 109 (14 fours, one six).
In Division One, meanwhile, Mikey Chandler top scored on 50 and followed up with a haul of 5-8 from 6.5 overs as Rockhampton emerged 32-run victors away to promoted Tetbury.
And Mike Kelly cracked 82 from 66 before grabbing 4-20 for second placed Cheltenham 2nds who dispatched Lydney by 120 runs.
Opener Adam Sercombe compiled 121 from 109 (15 fours, two sixes) for Woodmancote in a 116-run Division Three triumph away to Bourton Vale 2nds.
And opener Jay Goddard was run out for exactly 100 from 118 (18 fours) for Fairford in a rain-affected 157-run home win over Dymock, Charlie Bailey weighing in with 4-20 from eight.
Steve Davies hammered 133 for Williamstrip, paving the way for a 152-run home success over Buscot Park 2nds in Division Nine D.
But it was a better afternoon for Buscot Park’s senior XI who extended their unbeaten run with a 98-run home success over Cricklade 2nds, Mark Thatcher smashing 50 at number nine and then grabbing 4-14 from eight.
Westbury-on-Severn inflicted a first defeat of the summer on Dumbleton 2nds in Division Two, Greg Artus top scoring on 66 and grabbing 3-22.
And in Division Four, Charlton Kings 2nds made it seven from seven with a six-wicket win away at Churchdown, Matt Jennings unbeaten on 53.
Kingsholm 2nds, meanwhile, completed a last ball five wicket win away to previously unbeaten Cheltenham 3rds.
Half centuries from Stuart Houghton, opener Pasca Mutekwa and Rob Cooper saw the home side to 250-8, Gavin White striking with 4-43.
Openers Pavel Sharma (50) and Shaun Uthup (48) then gave Kingsholm’s reply the perfect start but it still needed an unbeaten 48 from John Veits and for the final delivery to go for four leg byes to wrap up the points.
