Robbie Savage responds to reported interest in Kyle McAllister

Forest Green boss Robbie Savage has responded to reported interest in Kyle McAllister.

Scottish winger McAllister, 27, has scored 11 goals this season for the National League side and is out of contract in the summer.

McAllister is the subject of interest from a number of clubs, including Gillingham, Oldham Athletic, and Dundee United, according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke.

When asked about the claims, Savage told Stroud Times: “I saw it online yesterday. Was it Oldham, Gillingham, and Dundee United? That was the first I’d heard of it, when I saw it online.

“I’m sure if there’s any truth in it, Kyle will knock on my door, like all the players do. And again, if Kyle knocks on my door and wants to explore the opportunity, obviously I would not want to lose Kyle, because he’s been magnificent for us. But the club will have a valuation, as they will have every single player. And it’s up to the clubs, if they want, once again, one of the best players in the league, they will have to make the valuation of the club.”

Savage admitted dealing with transfer speculation is a learning curve for him as a manager: “When I was a player, I thought managing was easy – it’s not. But it’s a great experience, and I’m loving it. But again, it keeps you up, it makes you anxious, it makes you ill, but one thing’s for sure that Forest Green will always be bigger than any individual. It’ll always be bigger than me.

“Owners will come and go, players will come and go, managers will come and go, but what the club has to do is the right by the fans, because the fans will always be here.”
