Rodborough Primary School introduces myHappymind programme to support pupil wellbeing

Rodborough Primary School has launched myHappymind, a pioneering national programme designed to promote children’s mental health, wellbeing, and resilience.

The move reflects the school’s recognition of a growing need to support children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, both within the school and the wider community. It also builds on the school’s commitment to listening to pupils’ voices and fostering open conversations around neurodiversity and mental health.

Pupils at Rodborough Primary School now begin each Monday morning with dedicated myHappymind sessions. Pupils in Years 1–6 use journals to guide their reflections, while younger children in Early Years use visual resources, communication cards, and practical activities.

Parents can continue wellbeing conversations at home supported by access to a companion myHappymind app.

Supported by the NHS, the initiative will benefit all pupils across the school from this term. The school is supported by a dedicated Happiness Manager’ to ensure smooth delivery and long-term success.

To ensure the programme becomes a visible and celebrated part of school life, Rodborough Primary School has introduced a central display board showcasing the programme’s modules and characters, provided engaging classroom resources, and installed a large banner at the school entrance. Staff members are also wearing My Brain pin badges as part of the initiative.

Headteacher Mrs Katie Callaghan-Wright said:

“We wanted to take a structured, science-based approach to supporting children’s wellbeing, and myHappymind offers exactly that. Having seen the programme in action and spoken with colleagues about its impact, we are confident it will make a real difference here at Rodborough.

“Staff and parents have been really enthusiastic about the programme, and the children responded with excitement when it was introduced in assembly. We are looking forward to embedding it into our weekly routines and seeing the positive outcomes it will bring.”
