Forest Green Rovers are set to announce the signing of midfielder Tate Campbell from National League North Buxton for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old former Birmingham City and Hereford player was in attendance at the New Lawn on Tuesday night as Rovers produced a swashbuckling display to beat Woking 4–2.
Speaking after the match, head coach Robbie Savage confirmed that a deal is close to completion, pending a medical.
“A fee has been agreed with Buxton, subject to a medical,” Savage said. “Hopefully that can be passed. If everything goes through, the fee’s agreed and the paperwork is in place. Buxton have been brilliant in the negotiations – Danny at Buxton in particular.
“Peter (Band), our northern scout, has seen him numerous times for us. I actually tried to sign Tate at Macclesfield before he went to Buxton. He’s a number six who protects, he’s 23, a very, very good player, and we’ll be delighted if he passes his medical and becomes a Forest Green Rovers player.”
Campbell spent 15 years at Birmingham City, playing for the first team four times before his release in 2024. He subsequently signed for Hereford united before making the switch to Buxton last summer.
