Burleigh Court cocktail mixologist Erin Evans is hoping to stir things up when she takes part in World Cocktail Day.
Erin will go toe-to-toe with five of the finest shakers and mixologists from the region, mixing it up in a competition to prove, who has the right blend to be named: King Cocktail 2025.
Erin believes the natural produce of the Burleigh gardens will see her lift the coveted trophy on May 13: “We have some great herbs as well as fruits here that I think will be of a benefit in both the cocktail and mocktail rounds.”
Last year’s champion was Téatro Bar and restaurant’s, Ryan Walters who picked up the accolade two years in a row, in 2024 with Pineapple Blanco. He also won the Mocktail round, non-alcoholic cocktails, with a Pomegranate Pineapple. The event that took place on his home territory, Téatro but he will not be defending his title, it will be down to Téatro’s, Tom Fisher.

World Cocktail Day is a global celebration of cocktails; it marks the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13 in 1806. The New York tabloid The Balance and Columbian Repository defined a cocktail as a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters.
Foyez Rahman of Sasa’s said: “This could get brutal, there are some serious competitors out there, but I am confident my man Kordian will come out on top.”
