Stratford Park’s toddler play area is set for a transformation, with work starting today, Monday.
The new equipment will include accessible pieces will be made from up to 95% recycled materials, including ocean waste, used textiles and plastic bags. The range, part of Kompan’s Made Green collection produces approximately half the carbon emissions during production compared to traditional products made from virgin sources and can be fully recycled at the end of their life cycle.
The work is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete during which time the play area will be closed. However, there is another play area with toddler equipment in the park.

Entry to Active Lifestyles Stroud (formerly Stratford Park leisure centre) will not be affected while the works are completed.
The toddler play area is located outside the Stratford Park café which was revamped last year when Stroud District Council took over the running of the leisure centre. The café serves ethically sourced coffee along with a variety of refreshing drinks and snacks, in a warm, friendly atmosphere and has proved popular since opening.
“I’m confident that users will give the new play area the seal of approval once it’s completed,” said Cllr Martin Brown, chair of SDC’s Community Services & Licensing Committee.
“One of the council’s main priorities is Community Resilience and Wellbeing, and we recognise how vital play areas are for the health and wellbeing of young children and their families in the district.”
Six other SDC-owned play areas were updated between 2023 and 2024 in Dursley, Stonehouse and Stroud, including the main play area at Stratford Park which received a new junior tower, trio climber, climbing unit and toddler multi play unit.
