A grassroots football club is counting the cost of another spate of vandalism.
Stroud League Division One outfit Taverners FC have started a crowdfunding appeal after vandals smashed the dugouts at the Owen Harris Memorial Ground in Eastington for the second time in just over three years.
Tavs, who currently sit second in the league are managed by former Brimscombe striker Mark Harsant, he told Stroud Times: “It’s hugely frustrating to see the dugouts damaged again, especially after all the effort and expense that went into replacing the old vandalised ones.

“We invested £1,800 in these new dugouts and modified them with wheels, only for vandals to kick holes in the panels and snap the bolts holding them together, making them unsafe for match days. We’re now aiming to raise £1,000 to repair them, and any support from the community and friends of Taverners FC would be greatly appreciated.”
