A brand new festival all about sustainability and climate change is set to take place in Stroud next week.

The hugely popular People, Planet, Pint event series will host its inaugural mini-climate festival on Thursday, 6 July at the Stroud Brewery & Taproom.

The free event will feature expert speakers, food, workshops and lightning talks from local small businesses about their sustainability plans.

The event is open to anyone with an interest in the environment. From small business owners to students and consultants to activists, everyone is welcome.

Bestselling author of An Optimist’s Tour of the Future and We Do Things Differently, Mark Stevenson will headline the day with an inspiring talk about how to prepare for the future, personally and professionally, as well as how to remain optimistic.

Mark is the co-founder of the carbon-removals company CUR8, and a strategic advisor to governments, investors, NGOs and corporates. Podcast fans will know him best as co-host of ‘The Futurenauts’ podcast alongside Ed Gillespie and comedian Jon Richardson.

Founder of People, Planet, Pint, Adam Bastock, will also host an interactive workshop all about building a business carbon reduction plan in just 30 minutes.

Adam Bastock, Founder of People, Planet, Pint, said: “With the looming threat of the climate crisis, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. However, whether you’re an individual or a business, we can all take small, achievable steps towards achieving net-zero emissions. At the People, Planet, Pint festival in Stroud we’re bringing together and celebrating climate action within the community.”

People, Planet, Pint is a monthly meet-up series to chat about what’s going on in the net-zero and sustainability space. Instead of formal networking sessions or stuffy presentations, the events offer an informal and friendly space for anyone interested in the environment to simply have a natter.

The event began with one small gathering during COP26 in Glasgow and has since expanded to 54 cities across the UK and Europe. In that time more than 5000 attendees over 191 events have swapped ideas and shared insights over a pint.

The event is sponsored by KRYSTAL, the UK’s only B Corp web hosting and cloud provider.
