Stroud Rotary Club have awarded Farmers’ Market Manager Kardien ‘Gerb’ Gerbrands  an award for his part in helping raise funds for the Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal.

Gerb allowed the Rotary Club to bucket collect at the market for the appeal, which raised £2,860.

Stroud Rotary President Trevor Ruthers and appeal organiser Wally Woolley presented Gerb with the Paul Harris Award for his efforts.

Gerb said: “I just create a space for them to come to the market whenever there is a humanitarian crisis somewhere in the world. They’ve been coming for ten years by now and they’re the heroic collectors! They should have awarded themselves, but I’m very honoured to have received it.”
