Stroud & Thornbury – Severnside Tritons Swimming Club is delighted to announce a weekend of outstanding achievements, highlighted by a successful club gala and impressive performances at the IAPS Swimming Finals.
The atmosphere at the recent annual Severnside Tritons club gala in memory of Ange Marling was electric—from the smooth, relaxed organisation to the camaraderie among swimmers. Competitors, both seasoned and first-timers, displayed dedication and confidence in every stroke. The day wasn’t just about medals but about celebrating personal milestones: swimmers improved techniques, bettered their times, and many experienced the thrill of competition for the first time. Heartfelt thanks go to the committed parents, volunteers, coaches, and officials who ensured the event’s success.
Building on this momentum, a number of Severnside swimmers pre-qualified for the highly esteemed IAPS Swimming Finals, held at the London Aquatics Centre.
A special congratulations to Lucy, who reached the 50m freestyle final, smashed her personal best, and proudly claimed a medal—representing Severnside’s competitive spirit on a national stage.
Five swimmers at the club have been selected for the Gloucester County Teams and will be competing at the 3 Counties Meet on the 29th June which is extremely exciting and we wish them all the best. The club remains committed to supporting swimmers of all levels on their journey—whether racing, refining technique, or simply experiencing the joy of the pool.
Founded in 2009, Severnside Tritons emerged from the merger of Thornbury and Stroud Swimming Clubs. Since then, it has grown into one of the South West’s most respected competitive swim clubs, operating from Stroud and Thornbury leisure centres. With around 150 members, the club nurtures talent up to County, Regional, and even National level.
