Stroud Valley Artspace (SVA) is calling for support for their Young Creatives Keeping Jazz Alive in Stroud for the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024 – every donation made during the campaign will be doubled whilst match funds last.

SVA is taking part in Big Give’s Christmas Challenge to raise £4,000 in just one week. Donors have until midday next Tuesday, 10th December to make sure their donation will be doubled by the Big Give. Every donation to SVA and Jazz Stroud will be doubled by the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge.

The funds will be used for Jazz Stroud Young Creatives by providing training, rehearsal and performance opportunities. The funding will create a platform for young jazz musicians and DJs to showcase their talent alongside established acts. This exposure will boost their careers, enrich the local music scene, and foster a supportive community for emerging artists in Stroud.

Donations to Young Creatives Keeping Jazz Alive in Stroud will be generously matched by the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024 during the campaign meaning the money can support twice as many young creatives in Stroud.

Moina Moin, Joicey DJ collective, said: “Joicey DJ Collective is foremost about playfulness and sharing music we love – keeping it fun every step of the way.

“If you dive straight into the tech it can be quite overwhelming and you lose the fun and the love. It’s not really just about DJing either. It’s also about people – especially women, trans and non-binary people’s confidence, and organically passing on skills and support between peers.

“Joicey is connected to SVA as a venue, so you can instantly start practising in a live context. We book DJs from London and Bristol, and local talent playing alongside these acts bring friends along to discover new artists and genres offering a holistic music education on the dancefloor.”

Neil Walker, Artistic Director at SVA said: “This year we’re looking to raise a total of £4,000. In order to access the £2,000 we have in the matching pot, we need to raise another £2,000 in online donations.

“We hope everyone will give generously to help us reach our target and enable us to carry on supporting young people the essential skills and opportunities in music that they feel so passionately about.”
