Top break: Stroud duo set for England trials

Burgeoning pool stars Paris Woodward and Kyron Hewitt are set to trial for England U23s this weekend.

The teenage duo play for Carlton Breakers at the Carlton Club in the Stroud Pool League and also represent Gloucestershire.

After catching the eye of the England selectors, the pair will come under the spotlight in a trial at Pontins in Suffolk. The event is overseen by the English Pool Association, recognised by Sport England as the Governing Body for Pool in England.

Chairman of the Carlton Club, Nick Housden said: “We’re delighted to see both lads doing Stroud proud and making these trials with England U23s. Both Kyron and Paris have worked really hard at their games, and it just shows that hard work pays off. For two young lads, simply being asked to trial at U23 level is a huge honour, and we wish them the best of luck. Both lads play pool weekly at the club and represent Gloucestershire too, so to go one better and represent the country would mean a huge amount to them.”
