The Vintage Motorcycle Club (VMCC) South Cotswold Section Annual Boxing Day gathering returned to the Hunters Hall, Kingscote. This was the second Boxing Day meet at this venue, although the VMCC meets here at other times of the year.
All local meetings are organised by the South Cotswold – VMCC section. The Group also meet throughout the year at other venues in the South Cotswold and Severn Vale areas of Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire (North Avon). The VMCC was originally formed in 1946 by a band of 38 enthusiasts and now boasts a Worldwide membership of over 10,000!

They welcome riders of any age on machines of any age and type. VMCC motorcycle types represent a plethora of motoring History; from veteran (pre-1914) vintage (1915-1930) post vintage (1931-1945) to post war and classic (1946-1996). Also, members often ride modern era bikes to meetings as well.
This year’s gathering was on a nice fresh mainly sunny day, but about four degrees. Bikes from manufacturers across the globe as usual made the meeting varied and interesting for all members and spectators alike.
Also on view were some classic cars also having a run out on Boxing Day including a cracking looking left-hand drive 1950’s Austin Healey 100 and an early Jaguar. Many eye-catching bikes and scooters were on show, including an ABC vintage bike circa 1920 with its horizontally opposed twin-cylinder overhead valve (OHV) engine, with many other advanced features that were revolutionary for its day.
Fellow VMCC, SVTEC, Wings and Wheels Society Dursley Members were spectating and on their bikes. As always ‘like one of the best rituals for petrol heads’ a Boxing Day lunch time well worth going to the pub for. Cheers to the VMCC organisers, pub staff, and all that exhibited and spectated.
