From the 1940s to the 1980s Stroud was the home of Safari Caravans, a brand synonymous with style and quality.
Vix Ashcroft, who runs SpaceHoppers Co-Working in Slad Road, Stroud, recently bought a 1970s Safari and is in the process of restoring it, and she has big plans for it when it’s complete, as she reveals in the video.
Made at a factory in Bowbridge, Safari Caravans closed in 1982 but hundreds are still lovingly maintained and used by enthusiastic owners.
Look out for an in-depth history of the company on Stroud Times, coming soon.
