Forest Green midfielder Harry Whitwell has been recalled by his parent club West Brom.
Whitwell, 20, has been a standout performer for Robbie Savage’s side this season – becoming a firm fan favourite.
Pulling the midfield strings with his energy and driving runs, he made 26 appearances – and scored three times – across all competitions for Rovers.
Whitwell’s return to the Hawthorns follows the departure of coach Ryan Mason this week, with the Championship outfit currently 18th in the table.
Whitwell made his senior debut for the Baggies in January 2024 during a third-round FA Cup match against Aldershot Town when he came on in West Brom’s 4-1 win.
The midfielder has represented England up to Under-18s level and scored five goals in seven PL2 appearances during the last campaign.
The Baggies head to Championship rivals Swansea for the second time in 11 days in the FA Cup on Sunday with Whitwell expected to be available for selection for interim boss James Morrison.
Whitwell played in the Cup for Rovers earlier in the season but new rules state he can feature in the competition for his parent club later in the campaign.
A Forest Green club spokesperson said: “All of us at The New Lawn would like to thank Harry for his contribution this season, and we wish him nothing but the best for the rest of his career.”
