A family-run health and food business which dates back to 1927 has just scooped a top accolade at the 2023 Nourish Awards.
Sunshine Health Shop, which boasts shops in Stroud High Street and Church Street has seen the organic bakery team bag gold.
Head baker Shaun Cratchley and assistant Matt Flagg created a delicious, sourdough-based, low-carb, seeded loaf to take gold for baked goods and baking mixes.
The Keto loaf offers more protein, fibre, and fewer carbohydrates whilst maintaining balanced nutrition values – a perfect balance of texture and flavour.
An independent award program supporting business of all sizes the Nourish Awards are lauded in the industry for having the toughest entry criteria and a robust judging process and are seen as the most prestigious awards for the food and beverage sector, with the focus on nutrition and healthy alternatives.
Judged by an expert panel of nutritionists, health and food industry experts, the winners of this award are known to have achieved outstanding flavour and texture, whilst at the same time providing great nutrition, quality, and innovation.
Sunshine owner Ray Hill, told Stroud Times: “I was absolutely delighted to have heard the news that our organic Keto seeded loaf had won gold at the awards held in London.
“This is such a great and worthy award for Shaun Cratchley, who has been baking organic bread for our Sunshine Health Shop for the last 30 years, and for Matt Flagg, his ‘second in command’. Who joined us as a boy 15 years ago.
“If anything extols our aim to further the importance of a good healthy diet, this is it.”
