Rising Stroud and District AC junior middle-distance star Sienna Rosewell bagged 1500 metre gold at the South West Track and Field Championships in Exeter.

Representing Gloucestershire, Rosewell, 15, faced the defending champion who also finished 4th in the national championships last year, coming off the back of her fastest ever 1500m time.

The race started in windy conditions with the holder controlling the race, but with just 250m from the finish, Rosewell made her move to pull away and take victory in four minutes and 36 seconds.

Rosewell first broke the 12-year-old U17 club record and lowered it again this month by a further two seconds.

Also in the U17s, Henry Sheffield won a bronze medal in the 1500 metres, clocking four minutes and 13 seconds.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Forrest finished 10th in four minutes and 28 seconds. Elsewhere, Freya McFadden scooped a bronze medal in the 800 metres, posting a time of two minutes and 21 seconds.
