Council issue scam warning

Stroud District Council have been made aware by other local authorities that electors have received a phishing email asking for documentary evidence to process their register-to-vote application.

The phishing emails are being sent from electoral@register-to-vote.electoral.agency, and similar email addresses may also be used.

The emails mimic a request for documentary evidence, asking the recipient to provide documents to verify their address and identity, such as a passport.

Only elections@stroud.gov.uk and/or elections@notifications.service.gov.uk will ask for documentary evidence.
