Following the unprecedented success of its recent Summer Fine Sale, Wotton Auction Rooms is welcoming consignments ahead of its next quarterly Fine & Curated Auction.
The Summer Fine Sale was a record-breaker for the historic Wotton-under-Edge auction house, achieving the highest-totalling auction in its history, with 600 lots spanning millennia and featuring objects from across the globe.
Auctioneer and Managing Director Joseph Trinder said the result was a testament to the team behind the scenes.
“I’m hugely proud of our brilliant team at Wotton Auction Rooms. We recently had the pleasure of selling our 2026 Summer Fine Sale, which I’m delighted to say is the highest-totalling auction in our over 100 years in business.”
He added: “It wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of the talented team I am proud to call my colleagues.”
Now attention is turning to the next Fine & Curated Auction on Tuesday, October 13, which is already shaping up to be another special sale.
While August may traditionally be a quieter month in the auction world, there has been plenty happening behind the scenes at Wotton Auction Rooms.
The team has been travelling across Gloucestershire and the wider UK, consigning fantastic pieces from Hampstead to Hampshire and Cheltenham to Chester, while welcoming new finds through the doors of its historic Tabernacle Chapel and Sunday School sale rooms on the edge of the Cotswolds.
For Trinder, it is that constant search for unexpected treasures that makes the auction business so exciting.
“Discoveries such as this are what make auctioneering so exciting,” he said recently, reflecting on the remarkable Churchill medallions that were discovered in an old shirt box during a family house clearance.
And the team is now keen to hear from anyone who might have the next discovery waiting at home.
