Police are appealing for information after a boy stabbed another child in the leg during an attempted robbery in Stroud.

It was reported that a boy, aged between 12 and 14, had stopped another teenage boy who was riding a bicycle on the canal towpath, close to Queen Elizabeth Field.

The suspect asked the victim to hand over his bike. When he refused, the suspect first pulled out a knife and then a plastic handgun from his trousers.

The victim, who is aged 16, attempted to cycle away, at which point the suspect stabbed the victim in the leg, causing a small wound and a rip to his trousers.

Following a number of enquiries, officers are now asking the public for any information which could help identify the suspect.

He is described as being white with an olive tan, and was reported to have been aged between 12 and 14. He was around 5ft 5in in height and of a skinny build. He was covering his face with a balaclava.

The incident happened at around 3.45pm on Thursday 21 August.
