THE 43rd Stroud Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 26th and these are the road closures that will be in place.
The race starts at 9am and finishes on the Cainscross Road, adjacent to Marling School field and will also feature a brand-new 10K race, running alongside the town’s much-loved Half Marathon.
Free car parks are situated around Stroud. The maximum walk time is approximately 10-15 minutes. Sat Nav postcodes, Cheapside Carpark (by Station) – GL5 3BL, Cainscross Carpark – GL5 4JQ, London Road – GL5 2AP. There is NO parking available at Marling School (Race Start or Finish).
There will be a rolling road block from Bath Road Roundabout in to Stonehouse through Stonehouse along Gloucester Rd to the turn on to Standish Lane. This will be in affect from approx. 09:07 at the Bath Road Roundabout (Horse Trough) to 10:00 at Standish Lane. This will affect traffic travelling Northbound towards Gloucester only.
Road closures will be in place to ensure the safety of runners:
- A419 Cainscross Road: 07:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Paganhill Lane: 09:50 AM – 12:30 PM
- Dudbridge Roundabout → Cainscross Roundabout (North): 08:50 AM – 09:25 AM
- Cainscross Roundabout → Dudbridge Roundabout (South): 08:45 AM – 12:30 PM
- B4008 (Cainscross Roundabout → Westward Rd → Ebley Rd → Bath Road Roundabout): 08:50 AM – 09:25 AM
- B4008 Eastbound only (Bath Road Roundabout → Ebley Rd → Westward Rd → Cainscross Roundabout): 09:35 AM – 12:00 PM
Race organiser Catherine Rands said: “The race will turn off the A38 at the top of Whitminster Hill and continue down Nupend (Grove) Lane to meet Great Oldbury Drive. For safety reasons, Nupend (Grove) Lane will be closed from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM. Access will be available for residents and emergency services, and we thank everyone for their patience and cooperation.”
The Stroud Half Marathon is one of the area’s largest annual sporting events, drawing athletes nationally and supporting local charities. This year’s chosen charities are The Door Youth Project and Longfield Hospice.
