At Stroud Town Council’s Annual Meeting held at Stroud Congregational Church, councillors unanimously voted to re-elect Uplands Ward councillor Tony Davey as mayor for a third term.

Central Ward councillor Louisa Stinton was also unanimously re-elected as Deputy Mayor for the coming civic year.

Deputy Chief Executive Heath Gunter welcomed the decision and praised both councillors for their commitment to the town.

“The team at Stroud Town Council and I are delighted that Tony and Louisa have been re-elected,” he said. “Their dedication and hard work should not be underestimated, especially as these are not currently paid roles. I look forward to working with them both over the coming year as we roll out some important projects for Stroud.”

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor play a central role within the council, chairing meetings, maintaining fair and orderly procedures and helping guide the direction of the authority. They also represent Stroud at civic events and support local charities, organisations and community groups across the town.

Valley Ward councillor Mick Fealty said: “Tony and Louisa share the values that matter most to us — hard work, dedication, fairness in their dealings with council colleagues and the town’s public, and a genuine care for the many communities that make up the wonderful town of Stroud.”

Central Ward councillor Liz Hillary added: “I’m delighted that Tony and Louisa have been unanimously re-elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the coming year, and really appreciate the hard work, good humour and steady commitment they both bring to Stroud Town Council.”

The council’s next Full Council meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Monday 13th July at the authority’s new chamber in Locking Hill.
