Dr Simon Opher MP has launched a new podcast series dedicated to men’s mental health, bringing together influential voices for open and honest conversations about wellbeing, identity, pressure, vulnerability and prevention.
The series begins with a powerful discussion featuring Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and Lu Jackson, founder of Craic Health, the pioneering creative healthcare organisation behind the award-winning “Comedy-on-Prescription” movement.
In the first episode, Andy Burnham reflects on the impact of social media on mental health, the importance of positive role models, exercise and sport, the increasingly toxic nature of public discourse, experiences of anxiety, and the importance of maintaining hope during challenging times.
Future episodes feature an eclectic mix of voices from politics, music, sport and healthcare, including Tom Findlay of Groove Armada, Tom Walker, creator of Jonathan Pie, Robbie Savage, Dr Phil Hammond, Ian Murray MP and others.
The first-ever episode recorded inside Parliament brings together Tom Findlay and Tom Walker for a candid discussion on modern masculinity, creativity and resilience.

Created for men and those who support them, the series combines personal stories, humour, lived experience and practical insights to encourage greater openness around mental fitness and wellbeing. Several episodes are accompanied by specially curated playlists selected by guests, providing listeners with a simple way to remain connected to the themes explored in each conversation.
The podcast series has been co-executive produced by Dr Simon Opher MP, Brimscombe Mill and Craic Health. It supports the Government’s Men’s Health Strategy and wider ambitions within the NHS 10-Year Health Plan to shift healthcare from “Sickness to Prevention” and from “Hospital to Community”.
By linking men to conversation, creativity and connection, the series demonstrates how community-based support can play a vital role in prevention, mental fitness and long-term wellbeing.
Dr Simon Opher MP said: “Too many men continue to struggle in silence. This podcast series creates a space for honest conversations about the pressures men face, while also highlighting practical ways to build connection, resilience and hope. Prevention is about more than healthcare services alone – it’s about relationships, community and creating opportunities for people to talk openly about their experiences.”
Lu Jackson, founder of Craic Health, said: “Creative approaches can help people engage with health and wellbeing in ways that feel accessible, relatable and enjoyable. Through conversation, humour and shared experiences, we can help break down barriers and encourage men to seek support earlier.”
The podcast series is available now, with new episodes released regularly.
