From serving bubble tea to Superman himself, Henry Cavill, to helping shape the future of one of Stroud’s most popular destinations, James Lund has come full circle at Five Valleys Shopping Centre.
Five Valleys Shopping Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of James as its new Assistant Centre Manager, working alongside Centre Manager Mick Grundy to support the continued growth and success of the Stroud destination.
For James, the appointment marks a return to familiar surroundings. Having previously worked as one of the centre staff before joining popular Food Hall business The Sweet Peach, he brings a wealth of experience and a strong understanding of the businesses and community that make Five Valleys unique.
“Stepping into my new role as Assistant Centre Manager at Five Valleys feels a little bit like coming home,” said James. “I’ve been lucky enough to work in various roles at the centre over the years and I’m genuinely excited to be taking on this next chapter. I’m really pleased to be back in the heart of the centre, working with the people who make it such a special place.”

During his time at Five Valleys, James has built strong relationships with many of the independent businesses that call the centre home. He is looking forward to working closely with traders to help increase footfall through creative marketing initiatives, engaging social media content and a vibrant programme of events.
“I’ve always admired the passion and creativity of our businesses,” James added. “I’m especially looking forward to creating fun and engaging content that showcases everything that makes Five Valleys such a great place to visit, while supporting events that bring people together and celebrate the spirit of Stroud.”
James will play a key role in promoting the centre’s growing calendar of events, including regular Friday evening entertainment and seasonal activities designed to attract visitors and support local businesses.
His appointment comes during an exciting period for both the centre and the wider town. Recent highlights have included the opening of the Home of Vintage by Dame Joanna Lumley and the completion of the King Street resurfacing project, which has enhanced the approach to the shopping centre and improved the visitor experience.
Reflecting on his experiences at Five Valleys, James recalled one memorable encounter during his time at The Sweet Peach.
“One of my favourite stories is the day I made Henry Cavill a bubble tea when he visited Five Valleys,” he said. “It’s not every day you get to say you served bubble tea to Superman.”
Centre Manager Mick Grundy welcomed James to his new role, saying: “James has a genuine passion for Five Valleys and a strong connection with our businesses and customers. His experience across different areas of the centre, combined with his enthusiasm and creativity, make him a fantastic addition to the management team. We’re excited to see the positive impact he will have as we continue to develop Five Valleys as a destination for shopping, dining and community events.”
Visitors can find out more about upcoming events and activities at Five Valleys by visiting the centre’s website and social media channels.
