Forest Green boss Robbie Savage believes commanding defender Emeka Obi’s leadership qualities will make him a key addition to his squad.
Speaking after the 25-year-old signed for an undisclosed fee from National League newcomers Kidderminster Harriers, Savage praised the centre-back’s character and pedigree.
“This is a fantastic signing for us,” said Savage of the 6ft 6in defender, who came through the youth systems at Liverpool and Wigan Athletic.
“He was an ever-present in Kidderminster’s promotion-winning team last season. He’s had a great upbringing in the Liverpool and Wigan youth set-ups, and he’s a huge threat from set-pieces.
“A leader on and off the pitch, at just 25, he’s got a bright future, and I’m really looking forward to seeing him in action in an FGR shirt.”
Obi played a pivotal role in Kidderminster Harriers’ promotion campaign last season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 44 appearances from central defence.
Obi becomes Savage’s fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Kyle Ajayi, Bryan Ifeanyi, Oli Ewing and James Berry.
