What’s on in Stroud this August Bank Holiday week: 24 – 31 August 2026
It’s the last week of August, and with a bank holiday weekend upcoming, the Stroud area is playing host to competing beer festivals and a range of other community festivities.
Rodborough’s Prince Albert starts things off on Thursday with music, beer and cider all the way through to Monday to continue the celebrations of landlady Lotte Lyster Connolly’s 30 years at the pub. Then on Friday’s it’s the turn of Horsley’s Hog Fest and the Crown and Sceptre Beer Festival to open their doors.
Meanwhile Bank Holiday Monday sees Stroud’s own Yard Trail and the Stroud Red Band’s Horns on Horns Road taking place in celebration.

- Settle in at the Prince Albert Beer Festival – Thu 27 – Mon 31 Aug
The Prince Albert throws its third beer festival of the year, continuing the celebrations of landlady Lotte’s 30 years of running the pub. Alongside the beer and cider, the event features a top flight programme of live music including local indie favourites Lo-Hi-Lo, shoegaze grunge star-of-the-future Pebble Daisy, Stroud punky grungers Incubation and Geneva-based multicultural genre-twisting musical collective Yalla Miku.
- Eat and drink at Hogfest – Fri 28 – Mon 31 Aug
The team at Horsley’s best pub mark the bank holiday weekend with a summer holiday edition of their HogFest beer festival, with free entry, a wide range of ales, keg beers and ciders, and food from Miniyaki’s, Sri-Licious and Boigers. Plus, a full programme of musical acts including Low Flying Pigeons, the Excel Band, Dr Grrr’s Blues Surgery and Justyna Michalka.
- Party at the Crown & Sceptre’s Outer Fringe – Fri 28 – Mon 31 Aug
The Crown and Sceptre keeps its traditional August Bank Holiday festivities – and its historic Stroud Fringe rebellion – alive by throwing a beer festival, and on Monday embraces both Stroud Red Band’s Horns on Horns Road and the Yard Trail with open arms.
- Browse the Yard Trail – Mon 31 Aug, all day
Stroud’s biggest second-hand sale returns for another year with bargains on sale in front and back yards around town, and pop-up sales in the yards at the Crown and Sceptre, the Trinity Rooms and around Trainspotters in Libby’s Drive. Expect bargains of all shapes and sizes.
- Join the procession on Horns Road – Mon 31 Aug, 12 noon
Stroud’s reddest brass band lead their annual horned procession along Horns Road each bank holiday Monday. Meet at the junction of Horns Road, Bisley Road and Trinity Road, for a 12 noon start. Wear horns and bring something to blow or bang along with the Stroud Red Band as you join their march to the Crown & Sceptre. This year, following tunes at the pub, the band will also process to the Chapels of Rest for more.
- Enjoy the Bisley festivities – Sat 29 – Sun 30 Aug
Bisley villagers are getting their money’s worth of their marquee hire this weekend, with a double-header starting with the fete and flower show on Saturday, and culminating in Bisley’s own music festival on Sunday. While Saturday’s events are free, the music festival is a ticketed fundraising affair, featuring live bands, real ales and ciders, street food.

- Play at Tinkley Gate – Continues until 31 Aug
The Cotswold National Trust’s team’s Summer of Play at Tinkley Gate has been quietly entertaining families since the start of the summer holidays with three play zones dotted around the site. Race a spacehopper, play rainbow tag, or take an obstacle course in the active area, do some wildlife yoga in the orchard or get creative at the easels and mud kitchen.

- Head to Wotton’s Summer Social – Sun 30 Aug, 12 noon – 6pm
Wotton-under-Edge businesses and locals band together to throw the Long Street Summer Social, a special late-summer party centred around the town’s main street. The day features family activities, musical acts, street vendors and fairground rides in an event designed to fill the community gap left when Nibley Festival closed its gates in 2024.
