Robbie Savage has labelled speedster Joshua Osude the “best impact player in the league” after the Forest Green Rovers winger played a pivotal role in their thrilling 3-2 victory over FC Halifax Town.
Osude joined Rovers from Woking in February but suffered an ankle injury which saw him miss the back end of last season.
The flying winger returned to action as a second-half substitute against Halifax and immediately made an impact, earning high praise from Savage.
“Josh Osude was magnificent. He doesn’t know what he’s going to do, nor do we, nor do the crowd, but I’ll tell you what, it’s effective. He comes on, impacts the game, impacts the goal.
“He is the best impact player in the league, no doubt about it. He was magnificent. The crowd love the way he gets about the pitch, the way he sprints.”
Meanwhile, Swindon Town loanee Filozofe Mabete, who marked his Rovers debut with a goal, also earned a glowing assessment from his manager.
“He defended magnificently well. You know, he’s calm. What he does really well for a defender, he knows to do the right decision.
“If he passes the ball, it’s at the right weight to the right foot of our player, but if he needs to clear it, he gets distance on it. I thought he was magnificent.
“You could see the big smile on him when he came over to celebrate the goal.
“I’ve got to thank Ollie (Ian Holloway) at Swindon for letting us have him until January. He’s going to be a big player for us and he’s a great character and a very good player.”
Forest Green travel to Worthing on Saturday.
