Wotton Auction Rooms has pulled off a major coup by bringing much-loved BBC antiques expert and television presenter Izzie Balmer onboard.

The familiar face of Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and The Travelling Auctioneers is joining the Wotton-under-Edge auction house as an independent valuer, jewellery specialist and auctioneer. As part of the new partnership, Izzie will join the Wotton team one day each month, working alongside them ahead of the monthly auctions and an exciting new programme of quarterly fine sales.

And local antiques fans will not have long to wait to meet her, with Izzie making her first appearance at Wotton Auction Rooms next Wednesday, September 9.

She will be at the auction house from 10.30am to 4pm for a special antiques and jewellery valuation day, offering members of the public the opportunity to receive free expert valuations and advice.

Visitors will be invited to bring along jewellery, antiques, decorative arts, heirlooms and other treasured possessions for expert advice on their history, potential value and how they could be consigned for auction.

A qualified jewellery specialist as well as an experienced general valuer and auctioneer, Izzie will work alongside Joseph Trinder and the wider Wotton Auction Rooms team.

She is one of the best-known faces in the antiques world and has become a firm favourite with television audiences through her appearances on some of the BBC’s most popular antiques programmes.

The new partnership comes at an exciting time for Wotton Auction Rooms, with entries currently being invited for its September Antique & Interiors Sale, as well as its Autumn Quarterly Fine & Curated Sale, which takes place in October.

Mr Trinder said he was delighted to welcome Izzie to Wotton Auction Rooms, he said: “We’re delighted to welcome Izzie to Wotton Auction Rooms for what is certain to be a wonderful day valuing jewellery, antiques and heirlooms from our historic Tabernacle offices.

“We hope lots of you will join us in welcoming one of the antiques world’s brightest and best to Wotton Auction Rooms.”

Local residents are encouraged to bring along their treasured possessions, meet Izzie and discover the stories — and potentially the value — hidden among the things they own.

The valuation day takes place at Wotton Auction Rooms on Wednesday, 9 September, from 10.30am to 4pm.
