Stroud-based charity Meningitis Now will feature in the BBC’s Lifeline Appeal this Sunday, sharing the real-life experiences of people affected by meningitis.

The ten-minute appeal film will air on BBC One at 12.35pm on Sunday, October 4, and features the voices and experiences of people whose lives have been changed by the disease, including Graeme and Gail, David and Russell, and Arthur and Alex.

The appeal is presented by Meningitis Now celebrity ambassador Seema Jaswal, who experienced meningitis herself as a teenager.

Meningitis Now says the film comes at a time of growing concern around meningitis, highlighting the devastating impact the disease can have on individuals and families across the UK.

The charity hopes the appeal will raise vital funds to enable it to continue supporting families through some of the hardest moments imaginable.

Seema Jaswal said: “Having had meningitis myself as a teenager, Meningitis Now is a cause very close to my heart.

“Please join me – watch, share and donate so Meningitis Now can be there for people affected by meningitis when they need it most.”

The appeal will be repeated on BBC Two at 1.05am on Tuesday, October 6, and at 12.50pm on Friday, October 9, and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

Thanks to Meningitis Now’s charity corporate partner, Carter Ruck, every donation made to the Lifeline Appeal will be matched pound-for-pound up to £2,500.

Money raised will help Meningitis Now continue its work to save lives and rebuild futures for people affected by meningitis across the UK.
