This week work starts on installing 560 light bulbs and more than 42km of cabling laid out to create this year’s light trail at the National Arboretum in Westonbirt.
Decisions on what the trail would look like started way back in February, with the theme for 2021 being the ‘Search for the Lost Reindeer.’
The story goes that Father Christmas has lost his reindeer amongst the trees after an almighty storm. Set deep in the heart of the majestic collection of trees, guests will be encouraged to speak to elves and the trees in search of clues to reunite Father Christmas with his beloved animals.
“As a totally ticketed event, there will be limited numbers and staggered entry to help maintain social distancing.” Explains Hannah Ward, event manager, Forestry England.
“Last year all the dates sold out. And we are expecting this to be the case again this year with over 80 per cent sold already.”
The illuminated trail opens on the weekend of Friday 26th November and Saturday 26th November, from 4pm until 9.30pm. Alternative dates are 3,4,10,11,12,17-21st December. There are relaxed sessions on 27th November and 4th December.
