Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Dursley on Friday evening.

It was reported that three men who were in possession of weapons had forced entry into an address in Phelps Mill Close at around 5.30pm.

Once inside the property, the men threatened the occupants before fleeing on foot in the direction of the scout hut towards the main road.

No-one was injured during the incident but the victims were left badly shaken by the ordeal.

Police, including armed officers, attended the scene to carry out a search of the area to locate the offenders.

An axe was recovered from a nearby property a short time later and a man was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Scenes of Crime officers have forensically examined the property where the incident took place and house to house enquiries have been conducted.

Investigating officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any information and has not yet spoken to police, to make contact.

Two of the suspects were described as wearing dark-coloured clothing with hoods while the third suspect was reported to be wearing a light blue hoodie and black Adidas jogging bottoms. All three men were wearing balaclavas on their faces.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who has doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage which they believe to be relevant.
