A new classical music concert series is being launched on Saturday at Kingshill House Arts Centre in Dursley.

Kemble-based musicians Annabel Knight and Robin Bigwood, appearing as Passacaglia Duo and playing recorder, baroque flute and harpsichord, are giving the opening concert entitled Bach and Forwards.

The concert includes beautiful, elegant music from the 16th to 18th centuries, by J S Bach, Byrd, Telemann, Handel and others, and is performed on historical instruments including a highly decorated double-manual harpsichord complete with a full-size oil painting on its lid.

Harpsichordist Robin explains: “This is a programme of some of the most tuneful, enjoyable baroque music we know; we’ll be introducing the pieces as we go along and saying something about our unusual instruments too. It should be a really interesting evening, not formal or stuffy at all.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 8th, and costs £12.50 for general admission. There’s also a £35 ticket available that gives admission to all three concerts in the new series: classical guitarist Renata Arlotti performs on November 12th, and the Carducci string quartet on December 3rd.
